Volunteer roles

We need you!

As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to choose the area(s) where you’d like to contribute. You’ll receive comprehensive training to ensure you feel fully confident in your role.

By joining the team, you’ll become part of a passionate and dedicated community, meet new people from around the world, and build lasting friendships. Above all, you’ll gain unforgettable experiences and lifelong memories.

Most importantly, you’ll play a key role in making the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships a success — because your commitment truly makes a difference.

By signing up as a volunteer, you are contributing to something much bigger than the championships themselves. Your time, effort, and engagement are essential to creating a safe, well-organised, and memorable event for athletes, teams, and spectators from all over the world.

We know that volunteering requires commitment, flexibility, and teamwork, and we truly appreciate every role — whether you are working on the slopes, behind the scenes, or supporting others throughout the event. Together, we will create an atmosphere that reflects the pride, warmth, and community spirit alpine skiing is known for.

Where the championship comes to life

The Arena Team ensures that the start and finish areas are both visually presentable and fully functional for championship operations. The focus is on maintaining clear structure, efficient flow, and a competition-ready venue.

You will contribute to smooth logistics, clearly defined zones, and effective movement within the arena, while ensuring that FIS requirements are met and partner visibility is properly implemented.

Perfect for volunteers who enjoy hands-on work, teamwork, and being part of creating true championship experience.

Course Crew

Open/close

In the heart of the slope, at the heart of the championship

The Course Crew is responsible for always keeping the slope “race ready”. The work primarily involves using skis to push snow out of the race line and maintaining a consistent and even surface throughout the competition.

This is physically demanding work carried out on the slope in close cooperation with other team members. You will quickly see the results of your efforts and play a key role in ensuring fair and safe racing conditions for the athletes.

This role is suited for confident skiers who are comfortable in varied terrain and have skis equipped with sharp steel edges.

On-Snow Transport

Open/close

The logistics team that keep everything moving

The Snow Transport Team are the problem solvers of the venue. When equipment or personnel need to be moved quickly, this team gets the job done — using snowmobiles or ATVs.

Tasks vary from transport and snow clearing to providing support for other teams across the venue. No two days are the same, and the pace can be high.

This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy responsibility, are confident operating vehicles in snowy conditions, and want to be part of the logistics that keep the event running smoothly.

The backbone of the championship

The Safety Team is responsible for ensuring a safe environment before, during, and after the competitions. Their tasks include installing safety netting, padding, and securing the venue from start to finish.

The work is carried out on skis, often with equipment to carry, making it physically demanding and fast-paced.

This role is well suited for volunteers who enjoy working outdoors, are comfortable with physical effort, and want a role where their contribution truly makes a difference.

Catering

The heroes behind the coffee and the well-earned break

The Catering Team keeps the championship energized. They operate the hospitality tent — the central meeting point where teams, volunteers, and the race organization recharge between shifts.

Responsibilities include serving food and beverages, keeping the tent warm and tidy, ensuring coffee is always available, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

This role suits volunteers who enjoy supporting others, working in a social environment, and contributing to a positive team spirit. No prior experience is required — training will be provided.

Race Office & Administration

The control center

The Race Office is the administrative hub of the championships. It handles information flow, start lists, meetings, accreditation, and communication with teams and the jury.

The work takes place indoors but in close connection with on-hill operations, ensuring that competitions run smoothly, accurately, and professionally.

This role is well suited for volunteers who value structure, organization, teamwork, and enjoy roles that require responsibility and overview.

Security

Keeping things calm and organized

The Security Team ensures that equipment and designated areas remain safe and secure throughout the championships.

Responsibilities include monitoring team ski rooms — where equipment is stored and prepared — as well as supervising parking areas within the arena.

The role focuses on presence, awareness, and serving as a calm and reliable point of contact when needed. Often, simply being visible and attentive helps ensure that everything runs smoothly.

This role is well suited for volunteers who are dependable, observant, and comfortable taking responsibility while contributing to a safe and well-organized event.

Off-Arena Transport

Keeping things moving behind the wheel

The Transport Team ensures that people, equipment, and essential supplies reach the right place at the right time during the championships.

Tasks include scheduled passenger transport, urgent deliveries, and general support for other teams. The role is varied and essential to keeping operations running smoothly.

This position suits flexible volunteers who are comfortable behind the wheel and hold a valid driver’s license.

Gate Judge

Open/close

In charge of your own gate

Gate Judges are responsible for one or more gates on the course, ensuring correct positioning and making quick adjustments if needed during the race.

The role involves independent responsibility while working as part of a coordinated team with clear instructions.

Gate Judges are part of the Course Crew and suit volunteers who value precision, awareness, and direct involvement in race operations.

Blue Dye Team

Open/close

The lines that matter

As part of the Blue Dye Team, you help mark the race line — the blue guideline that shows athletes the correct path down the course. Though subtle, it plays a crucial role in race execution.

The task is practical and straightforward, with immediate visible results. Previous experience with blue dye marking and strong skiing skills — particularly on hard snow — are an advantage.

This role suits volunteers who enjoy hands- on work on the slope, feel confident on skis, and want to contribute directly to the proper execution of the race.

Communication

Open/close

The stories that reach the world

The Communications Team manages external communication and supports media coverage of Junior Worlds 2026. Responsibilities include photo and video production, content creation, website updates, media coordination, and social media coverage.

This role suits volunteers who enjoy storytelling, creative work, and working in a fast-paced environment close to the action.

When every hundredth counts

As part of the Timing Team, you help ensure that timekeeping functions accurately throughout the competition. The role requires precision, coordination, and being in the right place at the right time.

You will work closely with others to ensure the competition is conducted correctly — in alpine skiing, every hundredth of a second matters.

This role is well suited for volunteers who value structure, teamwork, and precise execution.

Medical Services

Open/close

When it really matters

The Medical Team plays a vital role in ensuring safety throughout the championships, providing rapid and reliable assistance to athletes, volunteers, and staff when needed.

The work takes place on the slopes and requires confident skiing, including on hard snow. Experience with patient transport in steep terrain using a rescue sled is an advantage, and close teamwork is essential.

This role is suited for volunteers who remain calm under pressure, have relevant professional competence, and are motivated to contribute to a safe and well-organized championship.

Ceremonies & Side Events

Open/close

The moments we remember

The Ceremonies & Side Events Team is responsible for creating the setting around the championship’s key moments, including medal and award ceremonies. Tasks range from preparation and execution to dismantling after the ceremonies.

You help ensure smooth flow, atmosphere, and a sense of occasion when medals are awarded.

This role suits volunteers who enjoy teamwork, structure, and being part of the moments that bring each competition to a memorable close.
