We are seeking a highly experienced and internationally oriented Assistant Sport Director for a key leadership role in planning and delivering the sporting aspects of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2029 in Narvik.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of a championship at the highest international level – from early planning, through the World Cup events in 2027 and 2028, to the execution of the championship itself.
Working closely with the Sport Director, you will share responsibility for building, structuring, and leading the sports organization and ensuring delivery in line with FIS requirements and best practices from international championships.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the overall sports delivery model for Narvik 2029
- Build and structure the sports organization, including recruitment of key personnel and international resources
- Lead planning of staffing and resource allocation, including integration of a large volunteer workforce
- Act as a central link between competition execution, venue/logistics, and key stakeholders (FIS, national federations, officials)
- Play a key role in planning and delivering the World Cup events in 2027 and 2028
- Contribute to operational planning and execution of competition venues, including logistics, setup, and operational concepts
- Support the Race Director and FIS jury in sporting assessments and decision-making
- Prepare documentation, planning frameworks, and reporting
- Develop and implement contingency and risk management plans
Qualifications
- Solid experience in alpine skiing at the highest level (FIS, World Cup, World Championships, or Olympic Games)
- A relevant and active network within national and international alpine skiing
- Excellent English skills, both written and spoken; proficiency in German is an advantage.
